Marula ships first batch of manganese from Larisoro mine

CBCIE Time:Sep 18, 2024 16:09 Source:miningweekly

Battery metals miner Marula Mining has recorded its first manganese export sales under an agreement it has with Kenyan company Gems and Industrial Minerals.

The agreement between the companies entails Marula transporting manganese ore produced from its Larisoro mine, in Kenya, to the Port of Mombasa, from where the containerised manganese ore is shipped to customers in China under offtake agreements.

Marula is now due to receive 60% of the proceeds from the sale of this initial export manganese ore, which totalled 476 t grading 37% manganese.

The sale of ore from the mine will initially continue on a monthly basis.

An increase in volumes is expected from the fourth quarter as Marula accelerates a $1.5-million investment in new mining, crushing, screening and processing plant equipment at the mine.
