Diversified metals producer Jubilee Metals has announced the first production of copper concentrate from the front-end module at its Roan concentrator facility in Zambia.
The copper concentrate produced from Roan’s front-end module, targeting previously mined material, will be refined to produce copper cathode at the company’s Sable refinery, also in Zambia.
The concentrate from the front-end module is in addition to the sulphide copper concentrate already being produced from Roan’s mill-and-float circuit, which is currently being traded in the market.
The front-end module will be ramped up during the third quarter.
Jubilee’s Zambian copper processing operational footprint now encompasses both the Roan mill-and-float circuit and front-end module, as well as the Sable refinery, which is being upgraded for a combined in-country copper capacity of more than 25 000 t/y.
“The first upgraded concentrate produced from our processing modules is a significant milestone for the business allowing Jubilee to commence filling the available copper production capacity at our Zambian operations,” Jubilee CEO Leon Coetzer said on August 13.
