Swisstek Aluminium, prominent in Sri Lanka’s aluminium sector, received the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verification from the National Cleaner Production Centre. This verifies Swisstek Aluminium’s carbon monitoring meets the ISO 14064-3:2019 standard’s ‘reasonable assurance’ level.
ISO 14064-3:2019, an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) framework, guides greenhouse gas emissions’ verification. The National Cleaner Production Centre ensures accuracy and reliability during verification of an entity’s greenhouse gas data.
Swisstek Aluminium’s CEO, Tharindu Atapattu, elaborated in a related press release.
“Sustainability is central to Swisstek Aluminium. Our continuous dedication to eco-friendly operations is emphasized by this GHG Verification. We are committed to sustainability and are honored by this recognition.”
The company’s commitment to sustainability is backed up by significant capital expenditures. Swisstek Aluminium has notably ventured into renewable energy, installing solar panels that deliver 2.1 million kilowatt hours to the national grid annually—a Rs.156.5 million investment. Their sustainable efforts were also recognized by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute, awarding them the ISO 50001:2018 certification for Energy Management System (EnMS)—a first for the industry.
In securing the GHG Verification and aligning with ISO 14064-3:2019, Swisstek Aluminium fortifies its stand as an industry leader in sustainability and environmental conservation. The firm says its focus remains on making positive societal impacts and environmental contributions, and continuing to innovate to develop more sustainable operations.
