Aluminium smelter Constellium SE has joined the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR program as an Industrial Partner.

Constellium says the partnership is proof positive of its commitment to energy efficiency as well as to climate change. The voluntary program encourages companies to protect the environment by promoting energy-efficient products, homes, buildings and manufacturing plants, and saving on energy costs.

Bill Allemon, Global Energy Best Practices Leader at Constellium, said in a press release that his firm is eager to participate in the program.

“We are excited to join the ENERGY STAR program as an Industrial Partner. Sustainability is a key priority for Constellium, and this partnership aligns with our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint and promote energy efficiency. We look forward to our partnership with the EPA to achieve our shared goals.”

Constellium, based in France, was founded 1855 as Henri Merle et Compagnie and subsequently renamed Pechiney in 1950. Pechiney was purchased by Alcan in 2003, which was purchased by Rio Tinto in 2007. In 2011 Rio Tinto sold Alcan Engineered Products to Apollo Management (51%) and FSI (10%). Constellium produces rolled and extruded aluminium products from various alloys, bringing in €6.2 billion of revenue in 2021.
