South Korea's leading chemical and auto parts supplier KCC Corp. said on Thursday that its anti-rust and anti-fouling paints for ships and ceramics for vacuum circuit breakers were selected as "World-Class Products."

The World-Class Product is a certification supervised by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and awarded by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

It must meet strict requirements such as being within the top five in the global market share, taking a global market share of 5% or more, a market size of more than $50 million a year, and annual exports of $5 million.

KCC announced that its rust-proof paint and ceramics for vacuum circuit breakers have been selected for 14 years in a row and anti-fouling paint for 12 successive years.

The EH2350 Series, an epoxy rust-prevention paint for ships, is a product with a high degree of salt-water resistance and abrasion resistance. It can protect steel structures such as seawater tanks and pipes of ships from rust.

The anti-fouling coating product Egis Series protects ships from marine organisms such as barnacles attached to the hull of long-haul ships and thus increases their operational efficiency.

Ceramics for vacuum circuit breakers is a ceramic material used in vacuum circuit breakers that closes circuits when an electrical accident occurs. In Korea, KCC is the only company that supplies the product.

"Based on our technological prowess, we strive to develop excellent products that are well received in the global market. We are actively responding to social issues such as environmental protection, as well as our products' functionality," said a KCC official.
