Weak demand pulls down European amorphous market

CBCIE Time:Oct 18, 2019 15:15 Source:IM

China

  • Some consumers restocked graphite flake ahead of winter because the weather is likely to limit graphite mining activities in northern China, which is a production hub.

  • Buyers were able, however, to source material that is available in the market without driving up flake prices.

Europe

  • Buyers have driven down prices of amorphous graphite following soft demand from the refractories sector.

  • The price range of amorphous graphite in China narrowed downward earlier in the month, which would also suggest lower priced material was available in the market.

  • The price of -100 mesh 94% C material ticked downward in response to a slow weakening in demand from the steel industry.
